Punjab: Four drug smugglers in the clutches of police
Punjab: Police today arrested a man, resident of Chuhdiwala Dhanna village of Fazilka, in Sriganganagar. 5,000 narcotic pills were recovered from his possession. The suspect, Harish, was searched as soon as he got off the bus in Sriganganagar. A case has been registered against him under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. During preliminary interrogation, Harish said that he had brought this consignment from Bikaner and it was to be supplied to Kabul Shah, a resident of Ramkot village in Fazilka. Harish said that he had been in touch with Kabul Shah earlier as well. A police team is now searching for Kabul Shah. Police in Hindumalkot arrested Mandeep Singh alias Deep, resident of Dhani Kadaka Singh in Abohar. 7 grams of heroin was recovered from him. The suspect was travelling on a motorcycle when he was apprehended with the banned substance near the intersection on Kotha-Khakhan link road. The motorcycle has been seized. Meanwhile, the Kotwali police team stopped a bike rider named Monu Arora, a resident of Prem Nagar, in a suspicious condition and searched him and recovered 185 grams of opium from him. According to police sources, Monu was caught by the Sadar police station earlier this year with about 1 kg opium and 47 kg poppy husk. After being released from jail, he again got involved in the drug business. In another case, Wahabwala police stopped a car of Naveen Kumar, a resident of Seed Farm Abohar, and searched it. Police recovered 34 kg poppy husk from the car. The suspect was arrested. A case has been registered against him under the NDPS Act.
