Punjab: Famous columnist and writer H. Kishi Singh passes away

Punjab: Renowned columnist and author H Kishi Singh died on Sunday after a brief illness at Kansal here. He was the motoring correspondent of newspapers like The Statesman, New Delhi and especially The Tribune. His column ‘Good Motoring’ for The Tribune ran for over 27 years. He has also been a contributing editor for magazines like Car & Bike, Auto Motor & Sport and Auto India. Singh’s latest book Good Motoring has been published recently and he has collaborated with Dalai Lama, Ruskin Bond, Khushwant Singh and others to write a book called The Whispering Deodar. He was part of many social and literary organisations.
H Kishi Singh received his schooling from Bishop Cotton School, Shimla and graduated from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University. Thereafter he completed his studies from University of McGill, Montreal Canada. Being fond of motoring he has travelled by road from London to Delhi. The following year he went to Tehran and back and crossed the famous Khyber Pass three times. In 2017, he received two awards for his writings related to automobiles and road safety. First, from the International Road Federation, Geneva, Switzerland and second, the Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to motoring and road safety by the Sangrur Heritage Preservation Society and Literary Festival. He was one of the organisers of the Khushwant Singh Literary Festival, which talks about current social, political and economic issues and connects writers from all fields.
