Punjab: Explosion in Howrah Mail compartment, 4 injured
Punjab: Four people were injured in an explosion in a general coach of the Howrah Mail near Sirhind railway station in Punjab’s Fatehgarh Sahib district, Government Railway Police (GRP) officials said on Sunday. A plastic bucket filled with firecrackers exploded around 10.30 pm on Saturday when the train was going from Amritsar to Howrah, they said. Four passengers, including a woman, were injured, GRP Deputy Superintendent of Police Jagmohan Singh said. They were rushed to the Fatehgarh Sahib Civil Hospital. He said preliminary investigations suggest that the explosion occurred in a plastic bucket in the general compartment of the train, which contained some firecrackers. Singh said samples will be sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory. Further investigation is underway.
