Punjab: Efforts to include Vishwakarma in school curriculum

Punjab: Officials and activists of various Vishwakarma Temple Committees of the region have demanded the central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the state government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to include chapters on Baba Vishwakarma in school curriculum. The demand was made during the concluding session of the puja festivals held in Malerkotla, Amargarh, Koop Kalan and Ahmedgarh. Speakers like Tirlochan Singh Chhapra, Indrajit Singh Munde, Randhir Singh Hunjan and Darshan Singh Lote expressed disappointment that despite his significant contributions to modern technology, masonry and craftsmanship, successive governments have not effectively promoted awareness about the teachings of Baba Vishwakarma. They urged the youth of the region to enhance their professional skills by adopting the teachings and ideology of Lord Vishwakarma.
The speakers argued that inclusion of his life story in educational material could significantly improve the lifestyle of people and boost the country’s economy. The MLAs, including Jameel ur Rehman from Malerkotla, Manwinder Singh Giaspura from Payal, Thekedar Hakam Singh from Raikot and Kulwant Singh from Gajjanmajra, stressed that the AAP government led by Chief Minister Mann is committed to strengthening the economic condition of the residents through skill development initiatives. MLA Rehman highlighted that the state government is focusing on providing skill training based on the teachings of Lord Vishwakarma to enable the youth to lead a respectable life. “Lord Vishwakarma is recognised as the divine architect of the universe and the master of all machinery used by people across the world,” he said.
