Punjab: Before the by-election, the government accelerated development work in Gidderbaha

Punjab: The AAP government is busy laying foundation stones in Gidderbaha, where by-elections are due soon. Cabinet minister Aman Arora along with Dharamkot MLA Devinderjit Singh Ladi Dhos laid the foundation stone for construction and repair of 23 link roads in seven villages, involving projects worth around Rs 18.57 crore. Earlier on September 6, the two had laid the foundation stone for development works worth around Rs 12 crore in 10 villages. Minister Arora said that about 130 km of link roads will be constructed or repaired in the next one and a half months. He also promised that other pending works in the constituency will also start soon.
The event was attended by prominent AAP leaders from Gidderbaha Hardeep Singh Dimpy Dhillon, Preetpal Sharma and Sukhjinder Singh Kaoni. The by-election is being held after three-time MLA from Ludhiana Amarinder Singh Raja Waring was recently elected as MP. Apart from infrastructure projects, the state government has posted five more doctors at the Gidderbaha civil hospital, which has been facing a staff crunch. The hospital recently got three emergency medical officers, a gynaecologist and a general medicine doctor, along with an ophthalmologist who will visit twice a week. Dr Rashmi Chawla, SMO of Gidderbaha civil hospital, confirmed the new appointments and said the doctors are yet to take charge, which addresses some critical vacancies affecting the hospital’s operations.
