Punjab: A teenager has been sentenced to 20 years in jail for raping a minor.

Punjab: In Sri Ganganagar, a special court under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has sentenced an 18-year-old man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for raping a girl under the age of 16. The accused has also been fined Rs 1.5 lakh. Special Public Prosecutor Harbir Singh Brar stated that according to the FIR, on the night of March 27-28, the victim was watching television in an outer room of her house when Aslam Ali, alias Aslam Khan, a resident of Sardargarh, and an unknown accomplice entered the room. Both men then raped her. When she resisted, the accused also assaulted her, causing her injuries. The victim raised an alarm, and her father, brother, and uncle rushed to her aid, but the two men fled the scene. The victim filed a case against Aslam Khan and his unknown accomplice. During the investigation, the police checked the footage from a nearby CCTV camera. The footage showed Aslam walking alone towards the victim’s house at 1:13 AM. The involvement of any other person could not be confirmed.
