Punjab: A patient with severe facial deformity was successfully operated upon
Punjab: Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon Dr Chintan Narad has given a new lease of life to a patient suffering from facial deformity. The patient suffered from facial deformity and its associated challenges for over a decade. The injury damaged the temporomandibular joints (TMJ) on both sides of the jaw, leaving Ritesh unable to open his mouth. This condition affected his ability to eat, leaving him malnourished. The limited growth of his facial structures due to childhood trauma made the facial deformity evident.
To make the situation worse, his condition led to snoring and sleep apnea, affecting his sleep quality. Dr Chintan Narad performed a complex procedure, bilateral temporomandibular joint replacement surgery. This surgery restored Ritesh’s ability to open his mouth and improved his facial structure and profile, enabling Ritesh to eat properly and in public. The surgery also cured his snoring and sleep apnea, improving his overall quality of life. Dr. Narad also presented the case and research at the International Conference of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Vancouver, earning it international acclaim.
