Punjab: 2 transport department employees sentenced to 4 years in bribery case

Punjab: Special CBI Judge Alka Malik has sentenced two employees of Punjab Transport Department to four years rigorous imprisonment in an eight-year-old bribery case. CBI sleuths had arrested the department’s senior assistant Sarwan Bhatia and contract employee Damandeep Singh in Chandigarh on May 5, 2017. The two were accused of taking a bribe of Rs 18,300 from Kamal Kumar, a resident of Nayagaon, for issuing an all India permit for his Honda Amaze car. Kamal approached the CBI. The agency laid a trap and arrested the accused.
