Punjab: 2 independent councillors of Sangrur join AAP

Punjab: Two independent councillors of Sangrur Municipal Council joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday in the presence of party MLA Narinder Kaur Bharaj. With the joining of Pradeep Puri alias Pappu from ward number 10 and Avtar Singh Tara from ward number 22, the number of AAP councillors in the Sangrur civic body has increased from seven to nine. AAP MLA Bharaj assured both the councillors of due respect in the party. In the civic body elections held on December 21, 2024, the AAP managed to win only seven out of 29 wards. Congress won nine, BJP three and independents won 10 wards.
