Punjab: 2 arrested in conspiracy to attack Sunil Pehelwan
Punjab: Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the conspiracy to attack Sunil Pehalwan, nephew of former Sriganganagar MLA Raj Kumar Gaur. The conspiracy was allegedly hatched by Lawrence Bishnoi’s close associate Arju Bishnoi and his brother Anmol Bishnoi. Investigations revealed that Arju had sent goons to Sriganganagar twice in September and October to attack Pehalwan. Last month, the Delhi Police Crime Branch arrested seven sharpshooters, allegedly associated with the Bishnoi gang. These people were later questioned by the Sriganganagar police. Officials said that the Sriganganagar police detained Rajinder Jeetu from Dodewala village in Abohar and arrested Abhi Chaudhary from Zirakpur. Investigations revealed that both the suspects had gone to Sriganganagar to conduct a recce of Pehalwan. Police sources said that Pehalwan had received threatening phone calls in late October last year, following which the case was registered. However, the culprits were not traced at that time. A year later, the Crime Branch arrested seven miscreants who were planning to kill Sunil Pehelwan. According to the police, two miscreants were sent to Sri Ganganagar in September to keep an eye on Pehelwan’s activities. Sukhram Raika of Hanumangarh took the responsibility of providing them accommodation and assistance. The miscreants refused to attack after doing their reconnaissance, as Pehelwan did not live alone. Arzoo then sent two more miscreants, but when they were preparing to attack, they had an altercation with Sukhram, forcing them to abandon their mission. Before Arzoo could send additional attackers, the Crime Branch got information about the conspiracy and arrested the seven miscreants. Police said that after Pehelwan lodged a new complaint at the Sadar police station, a team led by Sri Ganganagar sub-inspector Hansraj is continuing the investigation. During the team’s interrogation, the name of Rajinder Jeetu came up, he used to work in a factory in Sri Ganganagar.
