Punjab: 11-year-old boy who wants to spread the principles of Islam

Punjab: At just 11 years old, Jannat is fasting during the holy month of Ramadan for the third consecutive year. Upset that her one-day fast was “wrong” because she had to take medication, Jannat says she wants to spread the message of Islam among the non-Muslim population in the area. A high fever forced her to take oral medication. She says, “I’m not sad that I had a fever, but I am sad that Allah didn’t want me to fast for the entire month.” Her father, Bhola Akram, sells milk.
Thanking God, Akram said he was proud that his family followed the teachings of the Quran in letter and spirit. Jannat performed very well in the recent National School Games and is also doing well in her studies. In addition to the three languages taught in school, she can speak, read, and write Urdu and Arabic. Jannat says, “I want to learn as much as possible about Islam and apply what I have learned in my life so that I can spread the principles of brotherhood, peace, sacrifice and patience throughout the world.”
