PSAJK Demands 30-Year Roadmap for J&K’s Education.

Srinagar: The Private Schools Association Jammu and Kashmir (PSAJK) has welcomed the recent stand of the Education Minister to introduce corrective measures aimed at improving educational standards across Jammu & Kashmir. The Association termed the initiative as “timely and forward-looking,” particularly in the context of evolving global educational demands and local developmental needs.
In a statement issued here, PSAJK expressed optimism that the government will soon unveil a comprehensive, long-term roadmap for the next three decades, ensuring that students across J&K are equipped with skills relevant to the future economy.
Highlighting the unique challenges of the Union Territory, PSAJK emphasized that the J&K education ecosystem requires structural strengthening, especially in areas such as teacher training, curriculum modernization, and skill-oriented learning. The Association pointed out that despite high literacy aspirations, there remains a significant gap in transforming students from job seekers to job creators.
Drawing parallels with progressive models in states like Maharashtra and Karnataka, PSAJK urged the government to adopt best practices in continuous teacher training, institutional accountability, and innovation-driven education systems. “The success of these states lies in their sustained investment in teacher capacity building and outcome-based education. J&K can greatly benefit by adapting similar frameworks to its local context,” the statement noted.
As a case study, PSAJK underlined that J&K’s geographical diversity, seasonal disruptions like winter vacations, and uneven access to resources necessitate a customized and resilient education strategy. The Association advocated for a mission-mode approach to teacher training and orientation, ensuring educators are equipped to deliver quality education aligned with modern pedagogical standards.
PSAJK further reiterated its confidence in the leadership of the Education Minister and the team of officials, describing them as “decisive and committed to reform.” The Association expressed hope that a future-ready education programme would soon be rolled out, addressing both foundational learning gaps and advanced skill development.
“We stand ready to collaborate with the government in shaping an education system that not only meets present challenges but also prepares our youth for the opportunities of the next three decades,” the statement added.
The Association concluded by stressing that education must be treated as a long-term mission, integral to the socio-economic transformation of Jammu & Kashmir.
