Protest started in Thambalapalle against MLA Dwarakanath

Tirupati: After Punganur, where TDP workers staged a protest against MLA Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy, it is now the turn of Thambalpalle, where workers of the ruling party staged a sit-in against Peddireddy’s brother and sitting MLA Dwarakanath Reddy. Tension mounted in the constituency on Tuesday, with protesters raising slogans of ‘Papala Reddy go back’ and demanding MLA Dwarakanath to leave the constituency. The protest came after the recent election results in Thambalpalle, where the TDP candidate lost to YSRCP’s sitting MLA Dwarakanath Reddy. As soon as Peddireddy Dwarakanath Reddy arrived in the area to meet party workers at his residence, TDP supporters started protesting. A large number of TDP leaders and workers staged a sit-in in front of the local police station and expressed their discontent by raising slogans such as ‘Dwarakanath Reddy go back’. The TDP leaders have made it clear that they will not allow Dwarakanath Reddy to stay in the constituency. The situation worsened after police intervention, leading to TDP leaders sitting on the road and protesting. This was followed by an argument between the police and TDP members, following which tension escalated. A large number of TDP supporters gathered near the Thambalpalle police station. Police have deployed security forces in the area, but the situation calmed down after police officials pacified the TDP leaders.
