Property worth Rs 16 lakh looted from bank in Bihar

Jamui (IANS) | Unidentified criminals raided a bank and looted property worth about Rs 16 lakh, including cash, in Chakai police station area of Bihar’s Jamui district on Tuesday. The police is now engaged in the investigation of the whole matter.

According to the police, five persons, who came on two motorcycles, entered the Chakai branch of the State Bank of India shortly after its opening, posing as customers and then at gunpoint forced the first customers to sit in their seats.

After this, after taking the bank employees in their possession, opened the cash counter and ran away with the cash kept there. According to the bank employees, the robbers have looted about Rs 3 lakh 75 thousand in cash and gold worth about Rs 12 lakh.

Here, a police officer said that after getting the information, the police reached the spot and started investigating the matter. He informed that vehicles are being searched on the roads leading to Jharkhand.

Here, it is being told that after committing the incident, the robbers fled towards Jharkhand. Raids are being conducted to arrest the robbers.

Earlier, on April 13, in Sonapur area of Saran district, fearless miscreants looted about Rs 12 lakh from Punjab National Bank in broad daylight and fled. During this, 2 Home Guard jawans posted in the security were shot dead. On April 12, unknown miscreants raided the ICICI Bank in Chakia police station area of East Champaran in broad daylight and looted about Rs 48 lakh and fled.
