Priyanka Gandhi Questions Impact of Name Change in Government Scheme

The Union Government has changed the name of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGA) to Pujya Bapu Gramin Rozgar Yojana. Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi has reacted to this decision. She questioned the Central Government about the benefit to the people of changing the name of the employment guarantee scheme.
He criticized such measures as being of no use except wasting money. He said that he did not understand the need to change the name of this scheme, which has been implemented for many years to improve the living standards of the rural poor by providing 100 days of employment. If the name of the scheme is changed, the names already printed on all the offices and objects related to it will have to be changed, said Priyanka Gandhi.
She said that this is a costly process and a lot of money will be spent. Meanwhile, the Union Cabinet on Friday decided to rename the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGA) as Pujya Bapu Gramin Rozgar Yojana. It also increased the number of working days from 100 to 125. The minimum wage per day has been revised to Rs. 240.
