Private bus and tourist van collide, 4 people including a child die

Tamil Nadu : Four people, including a girl, were killed when a private luxury bus collided with a tractor and then collided with an oncoming tourist van near Karur.

A private luxury bus carrying around 50 passengers was travelling from Bengaluru to Nagercoil on the Kodur section of Madurai National Highway near Karur around 5.30 am on Saturday. The driver of the bus suddenly lost control and collided with a tractor coming from the opposite direction. The bus overturned and collided with a van carrying tourists from Kovilpatti to Yercaud while overtaking speed bumps.

Four people, including a girl and a child, travelling in a tourist van died on the spot. On receiving information about the incident, Karur City Police Station, Vengamedu police and Karur fire brigade rushed to the spot and removed the private luxury bus and van trapped in the debris and rescued the people trapped inside the van.

The bodies of the four people killed in the accident have also been recovered and sent to Karur Government Medical College Hospital for post-mortem. The details of the dead have not been released yet. There is a lot of sadness in the area due to this incident which happened early in the morning.
