Prisoner commits suicide by hanging in Tihar Jail

New Delhi (IANS) | An inmate of Delhi’s Tihar Jail committed suicide inside the jail premises. An official gave this information on Tuesday. The deceased has been identified as 26-year-old Javed.

Earlier on Monday, a Delhi court convicted Javed under sections 392, 397 and others.

After conviction, he was brought to Central Jail No. 8/9, said a senior jail official. He committed suicide by hanging himself in the toilet area of the Mulhija prisoners’ enclosure at around 5 pm.

All concerned persons have been informed and a judicial magistrate inquiry is underway.
