Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a two-day official visit to Malaysia today (February 7).

Following his third two-day state visit to Malaysia at the invitation of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, significant discussions are expected on trade, security, maritime cooperation, digital technology, and all aspects of bilateral relations.

Indian High Commissioner to Malaysia, P.N. Reddy, said that the talks between the two sides will focus on strengthening cooperation in key areas, including trade and economy, emerging technologies, energy, and education, as both sides seek to expand relations beyond traditional areas between India and Malaysia.

During the visit, Prime Minister Modi is expected to hold discussions with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, as well as with members of the Indian diaspora and other business representatives in the country.

Additionally, the 10th India-Malaysia CEO Forum will be held, reflecting the strong people-to-people ties between the two countries.

A highlight of the visit is a cultural program by artists of Indian origin. Approximately 800 artists will come together on one stage and perform a continuous 5-minute dance, attempting to secure a place in the Malaysian Book of Records.

This grand social event is scheduled to take place this evening in Kuala Lumpur at a reception titled ‘Selamat Datang Modi Ji’.

This event will showcase the unity and cultural pride of the Indian diaspora to the world. This program will culturally strengthen India-Malaysia relations.

This unprecedented endeavor has generated considerable excitement on social media.

A large number of people are expected to attend the event, which will feature cultural performances by artists from across Malaysia.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim will jointly address this social event, highlighting the growing closeness in India-Malaysia relations.

Malaysia is home to 2.9 million people of Indian origin. This is the third largest Indian diaspora community in the world. It is also the second largest Indian diaspora community in Southeast Asia. Malaysia is a key partner for India in ASEAN and the Indo-Pacific region. This is also a key pillar of India’s ‘Look East Policy’.

The Torana Gate, located in Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur, is a gift from India to Malaysia as a symbol of the enduring friendship between the two countries. The Torana Gate was jointly inaugurated on November 23, 2025, by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and then-Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak.

Delegation-level talks and the exchange of Memoranda of Understanding are expected on Sunday.
