Prime Minister Modi inaugurates ‘Gyaltsen Jetsun Pema Mother and Child Hospital’

Thimphu: A modern hospital has been constructed with the cooperation of India in Bhutan’s capital Thimphu, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. On this occasion, Prime Minister Modi said that this is a Bhutan-India friendship project dedicated to the people of this Himalayan country.
Prime Minister Modi arrived here on Friday on a two-day state visit to further strengthen India’s unique ties with Bhutan. Modi met Bhutan’s King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and held talks with Prime Minister Tobgay. Prime Minister Modi had said in a post on ‘X’ on Friday night, “I accept the ‘Order of the Druk Gyalpo’ honor with great humility. I express my gratitude to His Majesty the King of Bhutan for bestowing this honour. I am confident that India-Bhutan relations will continue to grow and benefit our citizens.”
Let us tell you that diplomatic relations between India and Bhutan were established in 1968. The basic framework of India-Bhutan relations has been the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between the two countries in 1949, which was amended in February 2007.
