President Murmu unveils Rajagopalachari’s statue

New Delhi: The government is removing the symbols of British rule. As part of this, the statue of Edwin Lutyens was removed today and replaced with the statue of the first Governor General Rajagopalachari. The statue of Chakravarthy Rajagopalachari was unveiled at the Rashtrapati Bhavan by President Draupadi Murmu today. The statue of Chakravarthy Rajagopalachari was installed near the Grand Open Staircase at the Ashoka Mandapam. Rajagopalachari inaugurated the first one, replacing Edwin Lutyens, who built the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The President’s Office said in a statement that the British mindset will be overthrown and Indian culture and traditions will be given a big place. Vice President CP Radhakrishnan spoke on the occasion. He said that unveiling the Rajaji Pratima means overthrowing the influence of the British rulers. He said that remembering C. Rajagopalachari means organizing the Rajaji festival. He said that the process of coming out of British influence will continue continuously. Programs are being organized with the vision of liberation of the mind from slavery. He said this reflects the government’s spirit of service.
