President Draupadi Murmu pays tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri on their birth anniversaries

New Delhi: President Draupadi Murmu on Wednesday paid tribute to the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on the occasion of their birth anniversaries on social media platform ‘X’.

President Murmu wrote on X, “On the 155th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, I pay my humble tributes to the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi on behalf of all the citizens of the country. A strong follower of truth and non-violence, Bapu’s life is a unique message for the entire humanity. He inspired us to follow the path of peace and cooperation. Gandhiji campaigned to eradicate untouchability, illiteracy, uncleanliness and other social evils and made tireless efforts for women empowerment.”

,She further wrote, “Gandhiji was a symbol of eternal moral principles and preached ethics-based conduct. His struggle was focused on strengthening the weakest. His ideas influenced many great personalities of the world, who adopted Gandhiji’s ideals in their ways. On this auspicious occasion, let us pledge to imbibe the values ​​of truth, non-violence, love and purity and strive to continuously advance the development of the country and society with the vision of Gandhiji’s dream India.”

President Murmu also paid tribute to Lal Bahadur Shastri on his birth anniversary. She wrote on X, “On the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri, I pay my humble tribute to him. Shastriji presented the highest ideals of simplicity, honesty and patriotism throughout his life. Under his strong leadership, India achieved economic, strategic and other success. Let us take inspiration from his life and pledge to build a strong India.” Apart from President Draupadi Murmu, many leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President JP Nadda, Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge also paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri on their birth anniversary.
