Police shot youth during vehicle checking in Bihar’s Jehanabad

Patna (IANS) | A sub-inspector rank officer shot and seriously injured a youth during a vehicle checking operation in Bihar’s Jehanabad district on Tuesday. The incident is of Anantapur village of Okri Chowki. The victim Sudhir Kumar Yadav has been admitted to a private hospital, where his condition is said to be critical.

Jehanabad Superintendent of Police Deepak Ranjan said that as soon as we got information about the incident, Ghosi Range Circle Inspector cum SDPO Ashok Kumar Pandey was sent there for investigation. We will take action after their report comes.

The victim’s father Ravindra Yadav said, I had sent my son to Bandhu Bazar in Jehanabad for some work. While returning at around 10 am on Tuesday morning, he saw a police team checking vehicles in Anantapur village. Since he was not wearing a helmet and did not have a driving license, he tried to flee the spot to avoid the fine.

Ravindra Yadav further said that my son has claimed that outpost incharge Chandrahas Kumar fired at him. He was shot in the back and fell on the road. My son’s condition is serious.
