Police searched the house and seized Mahua liquor

Raigarh. Punjipathra police took action against illegal liquor sale in village Taraimal. Based on information received from the informer, a raid was conducted at the house of Basant Kumar Banjara, a resident of Dhanwar Para. The police team searched Basant Kumar Banjara’s house in the presence of witnesses, where 10 liters of Mahua liquor was recovered from two plastic jerry cans hidden in the courtyard, worth Rs 1,000. During interrogation, the accused admitted to keeping illegal liquor.

The police seized the liquor from the spot and registered a case against the accused Basant Kumar Banjara (age 40 years) under section 34 (2), 59 (a) of the Excise Act. Assistant Sub Inspector Vijay Kumar Ekka, constable Surendra Yadav, and Nirdosh Lakra were involved in this action. This quick action of Punjipathra police station has created panic among the illegal liquor traders in the area. The police have appealed to the public to immediately inform the police about illegal activities.
