Police raided and seized 30 liters of illegal Mahua liquor, one accused arrested

Raigarh. Tamnar police under the leadership of police station in-charge Tamnar Inspector Ashirwad Rahatgankar raided village Bijna and recovered 30 liters of illegal Mahua liquor as part of the ongoing campaign against illegal drugs. Accused Shatrughan Sahu was arrested from the spot and a case has been registered against him under the sections of the Excise Act.
On May 22, the Tamnar police team was investigating complaints and collecting information about suspicious activities in village Khuruslenga and Bijna area. During this, the police received information that Shatrughan Sahu, a resident of village Bijna, was preparing to sell Mahua liquor by hiding it in the courtyard of his house. On receiving the information, the police team along with witnesses immediately informed the police station in-charge and reached the spot and conducted a raid.
Shatrughan Sahu, who was present in the house, was interrogated, where initially he kept denying the matter of keeping liquor. But later he confessed that he was keeping Mahua liquor for sale and had hidden the liquor in two plastic jars covered with a sack in the corner of the courtyard. Upon searching, 20 liters in one jar and 10 liters in another, totaling 30 liters of Mahua liquor was recovered, whose estimated value is Rs 3,000.
The accused Shatrughan Sahu, father late Phulsai Sahu, age 34 years, resident of village Bijna, police station Tamnar, was taken into custody and a crime has been registered against him in police station Tamnar under section 34(2), 59(a) of Chhattisgarh Excise Act.
Inspector Ashirwad Rahatgankar along with head constable Dev Prasad Rathia, lady constable Usha Rani Tirki and constable Amardeep Ekka played a commendable role in this action.
