Police on high alert to maintain peace in Manpur, tribals doing jail bharo aandolan

Rajnandgaon. Under the banner of Chhattisgarh Sarva Adivasi Samaj, people from different districts of the state started arriving to join the Jail Bharo Andolan in Manpur on Friday on several social issues. Apart from the alleged victims of police violence in Bastar, the Jail Bharo Andolan was called today for the release of tribal leader Surju Tekam of Manpur area and other issues.

IG Jha also reached Mohla-Manpur late on Thursday evening and took stock of the security arrangements. Due to the movement, gazetted police officers from the entire range have been given the responsibility of security.

It is being told that the state government has instructed the top officials to be extra cautious regarding this movement of the tribal class. Here, the process of arrival of tribal youth and young men and people of other classes has started in Mohla-Manpur after noon. The police has kept the entire district under its security cover. Vehicles entering and leaving Manpur are being checked. Additional forces have been deployed in government offices, especially the Collectorate and the SP office. In this regard, IG Jha said that the jail bharo protest of the tribals is going on peacefully. Police personnel are deployed at every nook and corner. No unpleasant situation of any kind has arisen.
