Police holds awareness programmes
In a proactive move to enhance road safety awareness, the Hyderabad Traffic Police orchestrated a comprehensive program targeting auto-rickshaw drivers, truckers, and hawkers. Held at the esteemed Kings Palace Function Hall in Gudimalkapur, the event marked a significant initiative amidst the ongoing Road Safety Month, recognized from January 15 to February 14 by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
The gathering saw the esteemed presence of K Sreenivasa Reddy, the Commissioner of Hyderabad City Police, alongside Siddu Jonnalagadda, celebrated for his roles in Telugu cinema.
P Viswaprasad, Additional CP Traffic, shed light on the concerted efforts of the Government of India in orchestrating month-long road safety endeavors, involving stakeholders like the RTA, police, and highway authorities. He emphasized the imperative for motorists to embody the spirit of heroes and urged auto and truck drivers to be the torchbearers of road safety.
With approximately 1.20 lakh autos navigating the city’s urban transport landscape, Viswaprasad commended their pivotal role while also addressing prevalent traffic violations. He called upon their cooperation in augmenting the city’s traffic ecosystem.
Renowned as ‘DJ Tillu’ from the silver screen, Siddu Jonnalagadda underscored the social significance of road safety initiatives, drawing from personal experiences. He recounted a fortunate escape from a potential accident, attributing his safety to adherence to precautions like wearing helmets and seat belts. His impassioned plea resonated with attendees, urging collective adherence to traffic regulations to mitigate accidents and save lives.
Commissioner K Sreenivasa Reddy echoed the sentiment, highlighting the transformative potential of such awareness campaigns. He expressed gratitude to hospitals and organizations like the Rotary Club for their collaboration in providing essential services like eye tests for drivers, further enhancing safety measures.
As part of the event, pre-recorded messages on road safety tailored for auto-rickshaws were unveiled, underscoring the multi-pronged approach to disseminating crucial information.
In parallel, the Cyberabad police convened a pivotal meeting with mall and pub management, addressing pertinent issues like traffic congestion and parking management. Led by Cyberabad DCP (Traffic) D V Srinivas Rao, the discussions aimed at fostering a collaborative approach towards ensuring safety and convenience for patrons and commuters alike.
With concerted efforts from law enforcement and community stakeholders, such initiatives stand as beacons of hope in fostering a safer, more responsible road culture for all citizens.
