Police arrested the accused with illegal liquor in Kharora.

Raipur. Raipur. Police in the Kharora police station area of Chhattisgarh have busted an illegal liquor trade and arrested a young man. Police seized a total of 35 quarter bottles of Sholay country liquor and masala liquor, totaling 6.3 bulk liters of liquor, from the accused. The arrested accused is 22 years old and identified as Ishu Khandelwal, son of Seva Ram Khandelwal, resident of Khapridih Khurd.
Arrest Details
On September 24, 2025, Kharora police received information from an informant that a man was selling illegal liquor in plastic bags near the Bhainsa bus stand, at the turn leading to Khapridih Khurd. To verify the information, a Kharora police team arrived at the scene. Police observed the accused standing with a white plastic bag in his hand. Upon seeing the police, the accused attempted to flee, but was surrounded and apprehended. When asked for his name and address, he identified himself as Ishu Khandelwal.
Seized Liquor and Value
Police searched the accused’s bag and recovered 35 bottles of Sholay Desi Madira Masala liquor. Each bottle contained 180 ml of liquor, and the liquor was marked “For Sale Only in Chhattisgarh.” The total quantity of the recovered liquor was 6.3 bulk liters, with a total value of approximately ₹3,500. Police seized the liquor in the presence of witnesses.
Legal Action
A case was registered against the accused under Section 34(2) of the Excise Act, 2022 in FIR No. 664/25. Considering the accused’s actions a violation of the Excise Act, the police arrested him on the spot and presented him before the Honorable Court for judicial remand.

The arrest was made under the guidance of senior officers. The action was carried out under the direction of Senior Superintendent of Police Dr. Lal Umed Singh, under the guidance of Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Kirtan Rathore, and under the supervision of City Superintendent of Police (Assembly) Virendra Chaturvedi, led by the Kharora Police Station in-charge.
Police Investigation and Vigilance
Kharora Police Station stated that the accused did not present any valid documents regarding the possession of liquor, which led to the issuance of a notice and the signatures obtained. Police stated that the accused’s actions were considered sufficient to constitute a crime based on the evidence and circumstances. Police stated that this action was taken in the public interest and to ensure strict enforcement of the excise law. Furthermore, the police will continue to take action against illegal liquor in the Kharora police station area.
