Police arrested fugitive from last 20 years

Jalandhar. The Commissionerate Police has achieved a major success by arresting a parole jumper who was absconding for the last two decades. Giving information, the Police Commissioner said that a case 36/01 was registered under Section 15 of the NDPS Act in Police Station City Phagwara Kapurthala against Bhupinder Lal, son of Ram Lal, resident of village Lakhanpal, Sadar Jalandhar. He was sentenced to prison. While serving his sentence, he was granted parole leave and was to return to prison on 4 August 2005 after a four-week period. But he said that Bhupinder Lal failed to return.
Due to which another FIR was registered under the Punjab Good Conduct Prisoner Temporary Relief Act. Bhupinder Lal was a fugitive for several months. A police party of Police Station Sadar Jalandhar diligently chased Bhupinder Lal and arrested him from village Langot Chak Dawar Khan Police Station Sadar Kathua, Jammu. FIR number 136 has been registered under 8(2) Punjab Good Conduct Prisoner Temporary Relief Act in Police Station Sadar Jalandhar. He said that five FIRs have already been registered against the accused under different sections in different police stations of Jalandhar and Kapurthala.
