PM Modi will visit Bhutan next week
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has accepted the invitation given by King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuk of Bhutan. PM Modi will visit Bhutan next week. Currently, Bhutan’s Prime Minister Dasho Tshering Tobgay is on a visit to India. On Thursday, the Prime Ministers of both the countries met each other and shared their opinions on many issues. The two Prime Ministers prepared a roadmap towards deepening mutual relations. The Ministry of External Affairs issued a statement in this context saying, “On behalf of His Majesty the King of Bhutan, Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay has invited Prime Minister Modi to visit Bhutan next week. The Prime Minister has accepted the invitation.” The two leaders reviewed progress in various areas of bilateral partnership including infrastructure development, connectivity, energy, hydropower cooperation, people-to-people exchanges and development cooperation. Furthermore, they reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen the “special and unique” friendship between the two countries. After meeting PM Modi, Prime Minister Tobgay wrote in a post on his Discussed many issues.” PM Modi said it was a “pleasure” to meet Tobgay on his first visit abroad and they had “meaningful discussions on various aspects of our unique and special partnership”. PM Modi expressed his gratitude on the invitation of the King of Bhutan and the Prime Minister there. Earlier this week, the Union Cabinet chaired by PM Modi approved the signing of three MoUs between India and Bhutan, covering cooperation in supply of petroleum products, energy efficiency and food security measures.
