Panaji (IANS) | The Congress in Goa on Sunday (April 30) in the 100th episode of its radio program ‘Mann Ki Baat’ urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to share his views on the issue of diversion of Mhadei river water. Goa Congress media department president Amarnath Panjikar said on Thursday that all hope is on the Prime Minister, who can at least show courage and say that Mhadei will not be diverted.
He further said that Goa BJP leaders claim that PM Modi has praised the schemes and programs of the state government through Mann Ki Baat. Now these leaders should ask them to show some guts and speak about Mhadei diversion and show their love for small state like Goa.
He hit out at the BJP, saying that during the latter’s meeting in South Goa, leaders of the saffron party, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, failed to show the courage to speak the truth on the Mhadei issue before the people of the coastal state. Panjikar said that now he should try his luck with the Prime Minister.
Panjikar, referring to Shah’s remarks during a public rally in Karnataka’s Belagavi in January, said Pramod Sawant and other BJP leaders had a good opportunity to clarify the issue in the presence of Amit Shah, but failed. are.
Panjikar said, now the BJP is getting the platform of Mann Ki Baat to share its views on Mahadei. They should do so, so Karnataka and Goa as well as all other states have come to know about BJP’s love for small states.
Recently, Goa BJP President Sadanand Shet Tanavade had said that BJP leaders have the guts to even tell the media in Karnataka that the Goa government will not compromise on the Mhadei river issue. On this, Panjikar said, forget speaking in front of the media in Karnataka, the BJP leaders of the state failed to make a statement in Goa itself.
We the people of Goa, who love Maa Mhadei, who is the lifeline of Goa, are eager to hear from Prime Minister Narendra Modi that Mhadei’s water will not be diverted, Panjikar asserted.
It is in the public domain that the Prime Minister will be campaigning in Karnataka for the next several days. The BJP leaders from Goa may also ask him to speak on the Mhadei issue during the election campaign in Karnataka, which will prove whether big states or small states are close to the heart of BJP leaders.
Amit Shah had said during a meeting in Goa that the Center has a responsibility towards small states like Goa.
