PM Modi: Central policies inspired by teachings of Lord Krishna

Karnataka: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said the central government’s policies are inspired by the teachings of Lord Krishna, and added that India’s national security policy is based on eliminating “atyacharis” (oppressors) to establish peace and truth.
He made these remarks while addressing a large crowd after participating in the chanting of the ‘Laksha Kantha Gita’ at the Udupi Sri Krishna Matha in Karnataka.
He said, “Lord Krishna imparted his teachings on the battlefield. The Bhagavad Gita teaches us that eliminating “atyacharis” (oppressors) is essential to establish truth and peace. This is the essence of our national security policy. We believe the entire world is one family, and we follow the principle of ‘Dharmo Rakshati Rakshitah’ (Whoever protects Dharma will be protected).” PM Modi said, “From the Red Fort, we convey the message of Krishna’s compassion. Inspired by that, we announce Mission Sudarshan Chakra. Mission Sudarshan Chakra means building a wall of security around the country’s vital locations, industries, and public properties that the enemy cannot breach. If anyone attempts an attack, our Sudarshan Chakra will destroy them.”
Praising Operation Sindoor and comparing his government’s response to previous governments, he said, “Many civilians lost their lives in the Pahalgam terror attack. Among them were our brothers and sisters from Karnataka. Previously, governments did not take action after such attacks. But this is a new India – one that will not bow down to anyone and will not put its citizens in danger. We know how to create and maintain peace.”
He further said that the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita guide not only the people but the entire nation.
He said, “In the Gita, Krishna tells us to work for the welfare of society. Our policies – ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’, ‘Sarvajana Hitaya, Sarvajana Sukhaya’ – are inspired by Krishna’s teachings.”
“Lord Krishna inspires us to work for the poor. This is reflected in schemes like Ayushman Bharat and the PM Awas Yojana. He also emphasizes women’s empowerment and education. Inspired by this, the country implemented the historic ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Act’ (reservation of 33 percent seats for women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies). His teachings also guide our belief that the world is one family,” he added.
PM Modi said that visiting Udupi has always been a special experience.
He said, “I was born in Gujarat, and there is a special and deep connection between Udupi and Gujarat. It is believed that Mother Rukmini worshipped the idol of Shri Krishna in Gujarat. Later, Jagadguru Shri Madhvacharya installed this very idol here.” He added, “Last year, I went to the submerged city of Dwarka to pay obeisance. I received blessings there as well. You can imagine my feelings seeing this idol today. It has brought me immense spiritual joy.”
He also recalled Udupi’s legacy of good governance.
He said, “Udupi has been a model of good governance for the Jan Sangh and the BJP. In 1968, the people of Udupi elected the late V.S. Acharya of the Jan Sangh to the local corporation. Udupi sowed the seeds of good governance.”
He said, “Five decades ago, Udupi implemented a cleanliness drive. In the 1970s, a new model of drainage system was introduced here. Today, it has become a national priority.” PM Modi said, “Three days ago, I was in Kurukshetra, the land of the Gita. Today, I am very happy to receive the blessings of Lord Krishna and to be on the land of Jagadguru Madhavacharya. When one lakh people recited verses from the Bhagavad Gita together, the whole world saw a divine glimpse of India’s 1,000-year-old heritage.”
