Pharmacist arrested for defrauding people of Rs. 10 lakh by promising them jobs.

Bastar. A man in the district has been defrauded of Rs 10 lakh on the pretext of securing superintendent jobs for his daughter and nephew. The accused is a pharmacist himself. He had told the victim that his brother-in-law was an officer in Vyapam (Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board) and would get them the jobs. Following the victim’s complaint, the police have arrested the accused. The incident took place in the Bodhghat police station area. According to the information, the complaint was registered at the Bodhghat police station on January 29, 2026. The complainant, Anant Ram Kashyap, a resident of Kumharpara, Jagdalpur, told the police that he knew the accused, Pramod Singh Bhargav (43), a resident of Bajrangpur Nawagaon, Rajnandgaon district.

He was currently posted as a pharmacist in Bade Karenga village of Kondagaon district. The accused, claiming to be influential and stating that his brother-in-law was a Vyapam officer, assured the victim that he would get his daughter and nephew jobs as ashram superintendents.

In return, the accused took Rs 10 lakh in different installments. Later, when neither the jobs materialized nor the money was returned, the fraud was exposed. Based on the complaint, a team was formed under the leadership of Bodhghat Police Station In-charge Leeladhar Rathore, on the instructions of Superintendent of Police Shalabh Kumar Sinha. The police team took swift action, apprehending the accused from Kondagaon and interrogating him. During the interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime, and the police also found sufficient evidence. Following this, on January 31, 2026, the accused was formally arrested, produced in court, and sent to jail.
