Phagwara: Two arrested for bike theft

Phagwara: Police have arrested a miscreant on charges of motorcycle theft. The accused has been identified as Karamjit Singh alias Karma, resident of Mannakpur village. A motorcycle stolen from the hospital on August 25 was recovered from his possession and a case has been registered against the accused. Police have recovered two more motorcycles. Meanwhile, police have arrested Harpreet Singh, a resident of Burj Hassan village, with a stolen motorcycle without registration number. Apart from this, five mobile handsets have also been recovered.
Villager arrested with pistol
Phagwara: Mehatpur police have arrested a villager with an illegal gun. The accused has been identified as Buta Singh, a resident of Dharme Diyan Chhana village. Police said that an illegal pistol of .32 bore, a magazine and 3 cartridges have been recovered from the accused. A case has been registered against the accused under the Arms Act.
Pilgrim killed, 12 injured in accident
Phagwara: A speeding canter hit a parked bus near Phillaur on Monday night, killing one pilgrim on the spot while injuring more than a dozen others. Five of the injured were sent to PGI. All the pilgrims were on a pilgrimage to Jammu from Haridwar. The accident occurred when the bus driver was changing a punctured tyre and the speeding canter hit the parked bus.
