Patient’s assistant arrested for attempting to sexually assault a nurse

Visakhapatnam: Police on Wednesday arrested the partner of a patient for allegedly attempting to sexually assault a trainee nurse at a government hospital in Vizianagaram district.
According to reports, Gopi from Gantiyada mandal had admitted his ailing mother to the hospital, where he works as an assistant. On Tuesday night, when the nurse went to drink water from the cooler kept in a room, Gopi also followed her and closed the door. After this he tried to sexually assault her.

The nurse screamed loudly, alerting her fellow staff, who rushed to her help. Hospital security guards immediately intervened and caught Gopi.
According to doctors, Gopi was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. In a video that has gone viral on social media, he can be seen apologizing to the security personnel and requesting them to leave.
The hospital administration has issued a statement condemning the incident. It has assured that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure the safety of employees.

The trainee nurse hailing from Jharkhand is shocked by this incident. He is being counseled and supported by the hospital authorities.
Vizianagaram Forest Town Sub-Inspector Srinivas Rao has confirmed the incident. He said Gopi will be arrested after he is discharged from the hospital, where he is undergoing treatment.
