Patanjali honey sample failed in testing, this action was taken

Pithoragarh: Action taken after Patanjali’s packed honey sample failed in testing. The adjudicating officer has taken action after the sample failed in testing. According to the information received, about four years ago, a sample of Patanjali’s packed honey taken from Didihat in Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand was collected for testing. After testing, the sample of packed honey was found to be sub-standard. The amount of sucrose in the sample was more than double. In the case, on Friday, the adjudicating officer imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on the seller of DDHaat and the distributor company of Ramnagar. District Food Safety Officer RK Sharma said, in July 2020, the department had collected a sample of packed Patanjali honey from Gaurav Trading Company located in Didihat and sent it to the lab located in Rudrapur for testing. During investigation, the amount of sucrose in honey was found to be 11.1 percent (almost double) instead of the standard five percent. In November 2021, the department filed a suit against the concerned seller. On Friday, Adjudicating Officer and ADM Dr. SK Baranwal has given the verdict. He has imposed a fine of Rs 40 thousand on product seller Gaurav Trading Company and Rs 60 thousand on super stockist Kanhaji Distributor Ramnagar.
