Panic among traders and middlemen, illegal paddy seized.

Balodabazar. Acting on the instructions of Collector Deepak Soni, a joint team from the Revenue Department, Food Department, and Mandi (market) is maintaining strict vigilance against illegal paddy storage and transportation. Raids are being conducted on the establishments of suspected middlemen, yielding significant results. In this connection, on Friday, the joint team seized 2052 sacks of illegal paddy in 5 separate cases across various tehsils, marking the largest single-day operation to date.

According to the information received, 800 sacks of illegal paddy being transported from Amit Rice Industry to Gagandeep Poha Mill were seized in Bhatapara tehsil. In Bayan village under Sonakhan tehsil, the joint team raided Vikas Traders. The investigating team seized approximately 850 sacks of old, illegally stored paddy from Vikas Traders. In Palari tehsil, 305 sacks were seized from Dinesh Chandrakar’s godown in Odan village, 46 sacks from Kabir Traders in Bhawanipur, and 51 sacks from Mulshankar Traders in Pangaon in Balodabazar tehsil.
From November 1st to December 5th, 2664.54 quintals of illegal paddy have been seized in 70 cases across the district. The strict vigilance and action by the administration have created panic among hoarders and middlemen. Vehicles are also being subjected to rigorous checks at checkpoints. This action against illegal paddy hoarding and trading will continue until the end of the paddy procurement season.
