Panchkula police crack down on criminals, 89 arrested in November

Chandigarh: Panchkula Police made November a difficult month for criminals and a successful one for law enforcement. All active crime units in the district conducted major operations against organized crime, drug and arms trafficking, theft, snatching, and vehicle theft. A total of 89 accused, including several notorious and most-wanted criminals, were arrested in 64 cases. Police stated that timely action prevented many potential crimes. DCP Crime, Manpreet Singh Sudan, stated that the ACP Crime, all crime unit heads, and their teams remained on the ground, focusing on theft, vehicle theft, illegal liquor smuggling, snatching, robbery, dacoity, arms smuggling, and drug trafficking. On several occasions, the teams encountered armed criminals directly, but were able to overcome them with strong action.
Sharing data, the DCP stated that the operations resulted in significant recoveries. Five country-made pistols, four country-made guns, one country-made revolver, 16 live cartridges, one knife, 988g of hashish, 410g of heroin, 6kg 675g of poppy husk, 1kg 342g of opium, one auto-rickshaw, four e-rickshaws, three cars, one tractor, one motorbike, five mobile phones, ₹5.44 lakh in cash, 462 bottles of liquor, household goods worth several lakhs of rupees, and jewelry worth approximately ₹8 lakh were recovered. The seized weapons were intended for use in numerous crimes, and their recovery averted a major incident. The narcotics were intended for supply within the district and neighboring states. Police Commissioner Sibash Kabiraj praised the work of all crime units and directed that strict action against criminal activity must continue. He directed the crime unit and police stations to continue taking action against gambling, drugs, and illegal activities under ‘Operation Hotspot Domination’ to prevent the growth of such criminal networks.

150 Hotspots Identified; Riders, PCR, and ERV Teams Deployed
DCP Crime, Manpreet Singh Sudan, held a meeting with the in-charges and staff of all PCR, Rider, and ERV teams in the district at the Mansa Devi Police Station today, where he issued instructions to further intensify Operation Hotspot Domination. He directed that police personnel immediately become active in their respective areas, increasing patrols, vehicle checking, and surveillance in hotspot areas. He stated that a total of 150 hotspots have been identified across the district where drug use or sale, gambling, betting, antisocial activities, and other crimes are likely to occur. The DCP directed the teams to pay special attention to these hotspots and ensure a strong police presence to instill fear among criminals. DCP Sudan stated that consistent enforcement and patrolling has already significantly reduced theft, snatching, and related incidents. In the coming days, police presence and intelligence gathering will be strengthened to completely curb such crimes. SHO Inspector Munish Kumar, Station House Officer Ramu Swami, and approximately 120 police officers attended the meeting. The DCP directed all teams to immediately reach their areas, monitor suspicious activities, conduct regular raids in hotspot zones, and act promptly on any information, whether large or small.
