Panchkula: Opium found in parcel, case filed against one

Panchkula: The Panchkula police have booked a man, resident of Mohali, after seizure of opium worth Rs 15,000 being sent through a courier.

Police said they received information from one Kushal Kumar, who works as a senior executive at security vigilance department at DTDC courier, Phase 1, Industrial Area, Panchkula, that they had identified suspicious substances inside a parcel containing chocolate powder. The parcel was meant to be sent to Bengaluru.

Upon checking, they saw the parcel contained opium along with chocolate powder. The police identified that the parcel was sent by one Amanpreet Singh of Sector 91, Mohali.

The police have registered a case against the accused Amanpreet Singh under Section 18 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, at Sector 20, Panchkula.
