Panchkula: Case registered against a person for fraud and extortion
Panchkula: Police have registered a case against a man on charges of cheating and extortion. In a complaint to the police, the Morni resident said that his daughter was engaged to a boy named Damanjot, who tried to extort money from him using his daughter’s videos and photographs. He said that his daughter, who was studying in a college in Chandigarh, came in contact with this boy.
He said that both of them got into a contract marriage in private without his knowledge. He said that his daughter told him that Daman was monitoring her movements with the help of an application installed in her phone. He said that during a meeting, Damanjot threatened to post illegal videos and photographs of his daughter online and said that he demanded Rs 30 lakh to delete them. He said that the suspect has been sending some pictures of the girl to her relatives. On the complaint of the man, police have registered a case against accused Damanjot under sections 406, 419, 420, 506 and 385 of the IPC.
