Palampur: Woman dies due to lightning in Chhota Bhangal
Palampur: A woman shepherd and her six flocks were killed by lightning on Tuesday night in Tarmahar village in the remote Chhota Bhangal area of Baijnath tehsil, 90 km from Palampur. According to reports, the shepherd was heading towards the high hills of Dhauladhar with her flocks. The tree under which she was resting was struck by lightning, killing her and two of her animals on the spot. However, her two companions escaped unhurt.
The SDM of Baijnath has sent a team of rescue workers to Chhota Bhangal. He has also sanctioned financial assistance to the family of the deceased. Baijnath MLA Kishori Lal, who is also the chief parliamentary secretary, said he has directed the administration and the animal husbandry department to provide immediate relief to the affected persons.
