Pakistani drone dropped drugs, recovered by BSF, Punjab Police

Chandigarh (IANS) | BSF and Punjab Police have recovered a consignment of suspected narcotics about 2.5 kg dropped by Pakistani drone. The paramilitary force gave this information on Thursday. BSF said, on Wednesday night at around 9.05 pm, BSF personnel posted on the border heard the sound of a drone coming from Pakistan towards India near the border village of Van in Tarn Taran district.

The troops immediately swung into action to intercept the drone and the rear teams were also alerted.

Further, at about 9.10 a.m. the BSF motorcycle patrol party observed the movement of a bike with its headlights off. The motorcycle van was coming from the village side. He signaled the rider to stop, but the bike rider started running away by speeding up the bike. The BSF patrol team chased the bike. Going ahead, they found an abandoned bike at Mari Kamboke village, while the miscreants fled.

The whole village was surrounded. A joint search was conducted by the BSF and the police and during the search, a packet tightly wrapped with yellow adhesive tape with an iron ring attached to it, which could have been carried by the drone, was found in an empty space between two houses.

The seized goods have been handed over to the police for further investigation.

Another nefarious attempt by Pakistan to smuggle banned goods was foiled by joint efforts and timely action by BSF and Police.
