Paddy worth 28 lakh rupees was embezzled; computer operator arrested.

Bilaspur. Police have arrested a computer operator who caused the government a loss of millions of rupees by committing irregularities in paddy procurement. The operator at the procurement center of the Seva Sahakari Samiti Maryadit Eramsahi allegedly made fraudulent purchases of 920 quintals of paddy, valued at Rs. 28.52 lakh. The entire incident took place in the Masturi police station area.
The manager of the District Cooperative Central Bank Limited, Masturi, Sushil Panore, had filed a written complaint with the police. The complaint stated that serious irregularities had occurred at the paddy procurement center of the Seva Sahakari Samiti Eramsahi during the Kharif season of 2025. An investigation revealed a shortage of 920 quintals of paddy at the procurement center. Computer operator Kanshi Ram Khunte had allegedly made fraudulent paddy purchases. During the physical verification, a discrepancy of Rs. 28.52 lakh was discovered.
Following the complaint, a joint investigation team was formed. When the team conducted a physical verification, they found a shortage of 920 quintals of paddy at the center. The investigation revealed that this act was a direct violation of the paddy procurement policy for the Kharif marketing year 2025. It is alleged that computer operator Kanshi Ram Khunte deliberately made fraudulent entries to show paddy purchases, while that quantity of paddy was not actually present at the center. After the investigation, the police raided Kanshi Ram’s residence in Eramsahi village and arrested him.
