Paddy procurement campaign begins tomorrow, preparations complete

Balodabazar. In accordance with government guidelines, paddy will be procured from November 15th to January 31st, 2026, at the support price for the Kharif marketing year 2025-26. Under the guidance of Collector Deepak Soni, all preparations have been completed for the purchase of paddy from 165,000 registered farmers at 166 procurement centers through 129 cooperative service committees in the district. This year, the district’s estimated target for paddy procurement at the support price has been set at 915,000 metric tons.
For the Kharif marketing year 2025-26, the support price for thin paddy has been fixed at Rs. 2,389 per quintal, and for coarse and sarna paddy at Rs. 2,369 per quintal. The maximum limit for paddy procurement from farmers at the support price for the Kharif marketing year 2025-26 has been set at 21 quintals per acre, including linking purchases. Paddy procurement will be conducted by committees from Monday to Friday (excluding government holidays). Each Saturday, the paddy procurement software must confirm the quantity of paddy purchased, the use of gunny bags, and the expenditure of the amount received by the committee for paddy procurement. Paddy procurement will be conducted using electronic weighing machines at committees/procurement centers.
Formation of Flying Squads and Checkposts – Flying squads have been formed as needed in the district to prevent illegal paddy traders and traders. Officials and employees from the departments of Agriculture, Revenue, Food, Cooperatives, and Mandi have been deployed. The Flying Squads will maintain special surveillance based on the list of paddy traders and traders selling paddy in the district. Any information regarding illegal paddy storage and purchase will be immediately investigated. If illegal purchases and sales are found during the investigation, action will be taken against those involved. 12 check posts have been established in the district. Duty of Mandi, Revenue Department, Mandi, Forest Department, City Army has been assigned in shifts as per requirement. Special monitoring will be done of vehicles entering from outside states at the check post.
