All the marriage palaces on VIP Road are VIP as per the name. Common people here cannot even think of organizing a wedding; with the money they pay for rent, their guests can eat for two days. A major accident was averted at a marriage palace located on Vidhan Sabha Road on Tuesday. The lift wire broke due to which 4-5 people got injured.
It was good that the height of the lift was low, hence a major accident was averted, otherwise if the height of the lift had been high and the wire had broken, there would have been loss of life and property. As soon as information about the incident was received, the Vidhan Sabha police reached the spot and started investigating the incident site. The organizers refused to register an FIR by calling the police an ordinary incident. However, this incident has exposed the security arrangements of big buildings.
Questions are being raised on the regular inspection and security of marriage palaces. According to the police, the incident took place in Murat Palace in front of the Science Centre. According to the Assembly TI, the patrolling party received information about the lift breaking around 3.45 pm. Other incidents have also happened: Many incidents have happened before in the capital due to lift breakage. Two years ago in Dumtarrai, a young man died after getting trapped in the lift due to lack of regular maintenance.
The young man was outside the lift, so the inner mesh door of the lift got closed. And the lift started descending and the young man died on the spot. Similarly, seven years ago, eight people traveling on the ground floor in Ambuja Mall were injured.
Maintenance of the lift was done five days before the incident. Broken wire near the ground floor According to the Assembly TI, just as the lift reached near the ground floor, the wire of the lift broke and it fell down. During this time, people riding in the lift suffered injuries due to falling.
It is a matter of relief that the lift wire broke near the ground floor; if the lift wire broke on the upper floor, a serious accident cannot be ruled out. According to a guest attending the wedding ceremony, the lift has the capacity to carry ten people.
