Origin of silk sarees made from woolen thread in Kanchipuram

Tamil Nadu: A silk saree made from woolen yarn is available for sale in Kanchipuram, perfect for wearing during the winter months.

Varahi Lakshmi Silk Shop on Gandhi Salai in Kanchipuram has launched a silk saree made from woolen yarn for women to wear during the winter season. Speaking about this, the company’s owner, SKP Gopinath, said:

We have introduced a silk saree made from woolen yarn that women can wear in place of sweaters during winter in foreign countries and hilly areas.

This saree is made from 58 percent Kashmiri wool, 32 percent Bangalore silk, and 10 percent silver lace. The speciality of this saree is that it features all seven designs: Ravi Varma painting, Pochampalli pattern, Paithali, silver lace pattern known as tissue saree, Kalamkari pattern, Palumpalam pattern, and patterns found in Kanchipuram sarees.
