Open Heart Surgery in Trichy Government Hospital

Tamil Nadu: For the first time, a woman’s congenital condition was treated with open-heart surgery at the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital in Trichy.
Chitradevi (47), a resident of Trichy’s Srirangam area, was admitted to the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital in Trichy on November 15th after experiencing frequent fainting and breathing difficulties for the past nine years.
Doctors from the Cardiology and Vascular Surgery Department examined her and found that Chitradevi had a congenital defect in the upper chamber of her heart.
Following this, a team comprising cardiac and vascular surgeons (CVTS) and a heart-lung perfusion technician, under the supervision of the hospital’s Chief S. Kumaravel, recently performed open-heart surgery on Chitradevi for the first time.
With the help of a heart-lung machine, a small piece of heart membrane was removed and placed over the affected area, then stitched shut. Following the surgery, she was monitored closely, and her recovery was complete. Although there were no complications related to the surgery, he recently made a full recovery, with his pulse, arterial pressure, and oxygen levels normal. He was subsequently discharged home.
