One person arrested in connection with accident of social worker Pushpashri Agashe

Maharashtra: Pushpashri Agashe (73), a social activist from Thane who spread awareness about eye donation, died in a car accident. The driver, Mohammad Shabuddin Sheikh (59), who fled after the accident, was arrested by the Naupada police on Friday. Sheikh drives a bus. Naupada police said that he was tracked down and arrested on the basis of CCTV footage. Pushpashri’s eyes were donated after her sudden death, her relatives said. Pushpashri Agashe, a resident of Thane, was spreading awareness about eye donation. She was associated with many social organizations in Thane. On Thursday morning, she had left home to buy milk. At the same time, a vehicle going from Mumbai to Nashik hit her at Teen Haat Naka. She was seriously injured. After this accident, instead of helping Pushpashri, the driver of the vehicle fled from there.

Pushpashri was admitted to the hospital in an injured condition. Later, doctors declared her dead. A case was registered in this regard at the Naupada police station. Meanwhile, the police started looking for the driver based on the CCTV footage. It was clear that a minibus had hit her. After that, the police looked for the registration number of the driver’s vehicle and arrested Mohammed Shabuddin Shaikh. Mohammed was taking a bus from Kopri to the Wada area. At that time, the Naupada police informed about the accident. After Pushpashree’s sudden death, her relatives decided to donate her eyes. Accordingly, Pushpashree’s eyes were donated to the Thane District Government Hospital. At the same time, a 32-year-old man had died due to illness. Since Pushpashree’s family had decided to donate her eyes, the decision to donate the man’s eyes was taken by his relatives.
