Pune. One more person has died of Guillain-Barre syndrome in Maharashtra. With this, the death toll from this disease has increased to two while 16 new cases have been reported. So far 127 cases of this syndrome have been reported. 200 blood samples have been sent to NIV Pune due to the ever-increasing number. Earlier, the first death case was reported in Pune city due to Guillain-Barre syndrome. The state health department had formed a Rapid Response Team (RRT) to investigate the sudden increase in this infection.
Guillain-Barre syndrome is a rare condition that causes sudden numbness and muscle weakness in the body. It includes severe weakness in the limbs, diarrhea, etc. According to doctors, bacterial and viral infections usually cause GBS as they weaken the immunity of patients.
Doctors say that GBS is found in children and young people. But there is no risk of an epidemic due to this. Most patients recover completely with treatment. The mortality rate in this disease is very low so people do not need to panic.
