One man’s idea turned plastic waste into beautiful bags
lifestyle : Chips, noodles packets, sanitary pad covers, polythene bags, packing sheets etc.. Plastic is being used in many forms.. it is harming the environment in all ways. Tons of plastic is accumulating in soil and sea water. Nandan Bhatt is calling for people to put aside their words and work hard to protect nature from the plastic epidemic that has become a major threat to the environment.
Born in Kashmir, brought up in Jammu and settled in Pune, Nandan Bhatt used to roam the Sahyadri hills as part of his job duties. Admired by the beauty of nature. He was disturbed by the pollution of green nature with plastic. At the same time he noticed that poor women were losing their jobs. The popularity of the handloom profession or the decline of the looms did not escape his attention. Handicrafts have lost favor ever since. Women are mostly employed by these. Nandan started the organization Eco Kaari as a solution to the plastic problem and employment for those women. Ecokari, which started in Pune, took a new approach to overcome the problem of plastic and the crisis of artisans.
