On Guru Ghasidas Jayanti on 18 December

Mahasamund. On the occasion of Guru Ghasidas Jayanti on 18 December, “Untouchability Nivaranart and Publicity-Propagation Sadbhavna Camp” will be organized in village Manbay Gram Panchayat Sonaputi under Bagbahara development block. The main objective of this camp is the welfare of scheduled castes and to eradicate the stigma of untouchability towards them. In this program, “Essay and speech competition” will also be organized, in which students of high schools and colleges will participate. The topic of the essay is “Constitutional provisions for the eradication of untouchability and their impact in practical life” and the topic of speech is “Untouchability is a stigma for the society”. The participants coming in first, second and third place in the competition will be honored in the form of cash prizes and material. The camp will be inaugurated by the chief guest at 10 am, after which cultural programs Panthi dance, Suva dance, and Rawat Nacha will be performed. From 11 am to 12 noon, students will organize essay and speech competition. From 12 am to 1 pm, discussion will be held on untouchability eradication and social harmony. From 1 pm to 2 pm, lunch will be organized where people from different sections of society will eat together. Thereafter, from 3 pm to 3:30 pm, information will be given about the schemes run by various departments for the welfare of scheduled castes. From 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm, Panchayat and Social Service Department will present songs, music and drama. Thereafter, students who perform well in speech and essay competition will be awarded prizes and distinguished persons of the society will be honored for social work.

In this event, eminent persons of the village will also be honored who have made significant contribution in the field of untouchability eradication, education, medicine, and culture. During the program, a message of social harmony and equality will be given so that discrimination and inequality can be eliminated in the society.
